Google's hold on the internet reaches far and wide. What might seem to most people as just being the most poplar search engine on the internet is really much more behind the scenes. They are currently getting investigated by the European Commission for having a "search monopoly". The company has been in many different cases like one with the France Senate which would force the company to hand over their algorithms which operates it's search engine. Every time you search something on Google, it records that data, keeps it, and then behind the scenes, sell your searches to other companies. I have seen this many times before. For example, when looking at hotel prices or if you bought something on amazon, then you will get back on and there will ads directly targeted to whatever you were looking at. Try it for yourself!
